The Great Wide Open

For a very long time, skinny was where it was at. Skinny jeans, skinny pants, leggings... But a new silhouette is on the horizon, and lucky for most of us, you don't have to be super-skinny to wear it. Wide leg jeans and pants are superhot for fall. And they look great on most everyone. Just make sure to hem them so that they break (fancy-tailor-speak for where they crease or fold) just above your shoe. Please note that this means if your jeans look perfect with heels, you will probably be swimming in them with flats (not a good look.) So decide what you will wear most with them... and stick with it.

I personally like trouser-style jeans, like these Deitrich Trouser Pants by Gold Sign. They have a more menswearish feel to them then many of the 70's inspired bells and high-waisted jeans.

7 for all Mankind makes these Ginger Wide-Leg Jeans in the super-dark Mercer wash, which is inherently slimming and great for nights out on the town.

These Mutated Gene Jeans by Genetic Denim have a 70's era carpenter feel without being too retro.

Gap has jumped on the wide-leg bandwagon as well. So if you don't want to spend over $100 for a pair of new jeans, check out these Denim Button-tab Wide Leg Pants for only $59.50.

P.S. Don't throw out those skinny jeans yet, they are still on point for fall with blousy tops and super-high heels!
