Belts are a great way to pull together an outfit or add some oomph to a particularly boring one. Long-waisted gals can pull off thicker belts, while others should stick with skinnier belts, or thick belts slung low along the hips to elongate the torso. Wear one over a simple dress, or use it to cinch in a heavy sweater. Black, brown, patent, suede... doesn't matter. All are fair game. Check out my favorites below...

Sometimes it's good to go heavy on the hardware. This
Badgley Mischka Wide Five Buckle Belt would look great over a simple sweater dress.

Looking for something a little more understated? Try this
Michael Kors Leather Wide-Hinge Trouser Belt. The gold hardware is classy and refined.

This extra long
Geren Ford Belt looks like a steal from a vintage store, but better. Plus, perforated leather is always a fun change of pace.

Sleek and simple, this
Hanii Y Faux Patent Skinny Belt will look amazing over a plain gray sheath dress, or cinching a flowy top. And at only $46, why not?

I've always loved Eugenia Kim's hats, and now I love her belts too. This
Jacquetta Quilted Patent Leather Belt matches my favorite Chanel Bag perfectly. (I've always been very anti- matching belts with bags or belts with shoes, but this fall, I've started to convert. All these refined clothes need sophisticated accessories.)
