To be honest, I think great can shoes last forever. Tuck them away for a few years, bring them back out (after they've been resoled, of course), wear them with something you wouldn't before and voila! It's like listening to an album you forgot about, and loving it more the second time around. Now this works with all types of shoes... Some you buy knowing they will become classics, and some surprise you (who would have thought my Minnetonka moccasins could have lasted more than a season?) But for a sure bet... check out my picks below.
Classics with a twist always make the cut. And these YSL Charlotte Pumps are no exception. Seeing the vertical grain on a heel is unexpected after summers of stacked wedges. And I love the new pointy toe. It's more rounded than your vixenish heels from the 90's.
Comfort is also key. Cole Haan has partnered with Nike to create a line of fashionable shoes that won't leave you in pain by the end of the day. These Cassidy Air Boots have Nike Air technology. (Yep, that's it, the technology in your little brother's basketball shoes...)
And if you can count on any trends coming back and back again... They are patent, and red. Truly classics that magazines have labeled as trends so they have something to write about everything month (I am not exempt from this accusation,) these standby's are special enough to grab attention, but simple enough to be around for years. So try these Belle by Sigerson Morrison Patent Leather Knot Flats.
